Takeaways – Life. Lessons. Learned.

Guest Spotlight: Hayim Mizrachi – Burning Holes in the Soles of Your Shoes

In this episode of Takeaways, we’re doing something a little different. This installment is a replay of the inaugural episode of Through The Door: An Insider’s Perspective on Running a Business, hosted by Megan Comfort, Executive Vice President and Small Business Manager at Nevada State Bank. I had the honor of being Megan’s very first guest, and together, we explored the lessons I’ve learned from the ground up — from starting cold as a rookie broker to leading MDL Group as CEO today.

The Journey

My story begins right here in Las Vegas, where I grew up as a proud local, attending Green Valley High School before graduating from UNLV. My roots in the community shaped me, and I’ve carried that connection throughout my life — not just professionally but personally, contributing time, talent, and resources to organizations like The Jewish Federation and mentoring young leaders through Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity.

But getting to where I am today didn’t come easy. Like many new commercial real estate agents, I started my career full of energy but lacking direction. “You don’t know what you don’t know” was a lesson learned firsthand.

Pounding the pavement is not optional

My early days in commercial real estate were all about pounding the pavement, showing up every day, and burning through the soles of my shoes — literally and figuratively. Office by office, handshake by handshake, I learned what it really takes to build relationships and earn trust.

Pivotal moments in my journey were forming partnerships that propelled me forward. I talk about those early days of teaming up with my best friend, Jarrad Katz, to lessons we’ve learned when we became partners with Carol and Curt at MDL Group.

Fast forward to today, scaling MDL Group wasn’t about shortcuts — it was about putting the right systems, people, and culture in place. I shared with Megan how tools like Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) became critical for growth, providing clarity on roles, vision, and responsibility.

Personal Branding and Legacy

We also dive into the power of personal branding and how I use social media and my website, Hayim.com, as a platform to share my journey, thoughts, and Takeaways. Whether it’s hosting this podcast, writing reflections, or running posts, I’ve found that sharing your story creates opportunities not just for yourself but for others looking for guidance.

  • Pounding the Pavement is Essential – Success doesn’t happen overnight. It starts with showing up, working hard, and building relationships step by step.
  • Networking Should Be Intentional – If you’re in sales, networking isn’t optional — it’s part of the job.
  • Be CAREfrontational – Tough conversations are necessary for growth, but they need to come from a place of care and respect.
